All That I Got Is You

I’ll tell you what I think about
And the only times I went without
My mom was a trophy wife
And my dad had a lot to learn about life
She finally got fed up of his cheating
Cause the cycle kept repeating
He held money over her head and it was all she knew
A housewife with a plan that I give SO much respect to
She modeled Halloween costumes until she got a 9-5
Making Pennie’s on the dollars she learned how to survive
So we struggled and ate soup every night
My dad had Millis in the bank despite
But her fight?
Having cancer she got up and went to work anyway
At one point my bed was in the dining room but we still got thru that way
She taught me I can do it on my own
Never let a man treat me like… you right… like go get it you grown
My father died with $3k in the bank
He knew he lost his diamond, his wife, and that rite
My dad was served too harsh for his plight
So I still say a prayer he made it into heaven every night
To be locked up so young most times I feel dumb
It was a huge load off that my certificate of live birth finally came in
You can imagine that burden if I was the one adopted and set it off to BEGIN with
It wasn’t a dramatization…
I cut my wrists 63 left and 64 right
Cause that’s how many times I had to hear them fight

(That’s why I was locked up at 13)
