I know this isnt good. Im looking for tips and advice as to what I could of done to make it look a lot better. Its a little thing I tried doing for a local emcee.
Much bigger, do some research into these three points in design.
Composition
Using typography
Colour in design
Once you've done some healthy reading on those subjects you'll begin to improve, you'll learn how to make things look good. Look at loads of CD covers, flyers, save any image you think looks cool into a seperate pictures folder.
Work with Photoshop CS at least, don't be shy to look up a few tutorials and follow them. Most good tutorials provide images to download and use as part of the tutorial.
Follow what's going on in your local area like fashion, social vibes, politics and current news, and it'll enable you to come up with 'fresh' designs that are more personal and suited to the local emcees that you're trying to promote.
Other than that, just keep doing it, reading up, and over time you pick it up. Pretty easy.

Not bad man! You're pretty good with the typography! Mess around with adding more contrast to the background image and/or other effects to make it stand out as much as the text.
