What does rap or hip hop mean to all of you? Is it simply a trend in which you were all obliged to follow? Or did it appeal to you because of inspirational movies like 8 mile for example. Do you see it as a form of poetical protest? Or do you just like to get respect from murkin' other MC's in battles? You in it for the freestyles? What is it? What makes rap what it is...? I ask you RB!

To me...It's expressing a feeling through the art of rhyming. Instead of simply writing how you feel, rap allows you to express it in a creative way.
Hmmmm....... well, if you talkin HIP HOP, then I would say it's a very unique and still growing culture. And no matter what element you choose to harness, it's based on the love of the music, and what it stands for. And your always tryin to improve, trying to learn a new move, new ways to put words together, new styles of lettering, a new sound... Hip Hop is forever progressing.
Now, for RAP in particular.. It really is expressing yourself verbally to music. I myself got into actually 'attempting' rap because of the whole battling aspect. Fightin with an arsenal of words. The battling aspect is my favorite part of Bboyin as well, trainin to get another move, combo, w/e. to add to your arsenal so you got what it takes to win ya next battle.
